Item traits are the name given to specific details that a seller can provide about their items. For example, for "Women's Handbags," item traits include:
- Brand: Chloe, Gucci, Liz Claiborne
- Color: Red, Blue, Green, etc.
- Condition: New With Tags, New Without Tags, Other
- GTIN: UPC, MPN, ISBN or other unique product identifiers (read about the difference between these)
How are they used?
For Bonanza search. When buyers are browsing through categories, they will be presented with the traits available for each category, which they can use to narrow down their results.
For Google Shopping. When we send a seller's items to Google, we'll use item traits where possible to match your item up with specific details that Google uses. Sending Google this extra info helps to get seller's items more highly ranked in search. In some cases - such as with new, brand name items, Google Shopping will not list items without a Brand and GTIN.
To determine related items. Bonanza is currently working on systems to suggest related items to buyers. Item traits will play a role in determining similarities between items, which will drive more potential buyers to items.
How do I set them up?
We've prepared a separate help document to tell you all about it.
