Company history
When Bonanza (formerly "Bonanzle") was conceived by CEO William B. Harding in 2007, online marketplaces were often convoluted, difficult to use, and didn't appear to respect their merchants as "key customers" to be valued just as highly as shoppers. Fees were high, tools were difficult to use for buyers and sellers, and policies changed dramatically without forewarning and without the consent of customers.
Bill imagined a place where online buyers and sellers could connect in a way that was friendlier, more social, and would be a great experience for everybody involved in each transaction.
The Bonanza online marketplace as you see it today is the combination of Bonanzle and the 2010 acquisition of startup "1000 Markets." The company reached profitability in 2013, and has been one of Google Shopping's largest partners since 2014.
Additional Bonanza properties include Bonanza Webstores, launched in 2014 and providing a standalone, branded online store for thousands of merchants, GitClear, a developer productivity tool launched in 2017 and providing data for managers and engineers to summarize daily activity, recall important changes, and measure developer impact, and Amplenote, a note-taking and to-do app launched in 2019.
Our mission
Our mission is to provide entrepreneurs with the best platform for their online stores, and our growth trajectory proves that we're on the right track. Alexa now calls us the biggest marketplace this side of Etsy. Meanwhile, we were named "Most Recommended" and "Best Communicating" marketplace by Ecommercebytes' 2016 Annual Sellers Survey. More than 12,000 independent sellers voted us preferred to Etsy, Amazon, and eBay (who finished in that order). In 2015 alone, we doubled the size of our product catalog and our sales revenues, and saw our average seller double the size of their monthly sales.
