Introduction to the Shopify Importer
The Shopify importer is your friend in the importing business. It will grab all of your active listings from Shopify and copy them into your Bonanza booth, with as much detail as it can gather (with some exceptions). Importing items from Shopify is free and usually is completed within a few hours, though sometimes can take as long as 24-48 hours, depending on how many items are being imported and how many imports are in the queue.
Where can I find the Shopify importer?
You can access the Shopify import page by hovering your mouse cursor over the "Selling" link (upper left side of each page, just above the Bonanza logo) and selecting the "Import from Shopify" link from the drop down menu. You can also find the same link on your main booth edit page (where you add/edit items).
This page has detailed instructions on how to connect your Shopify account for import.
What kinds of listings does the importer import?
The Shopify importer will copy standard listings that have a quantity of greater than 0 and are managed by the Shopify platform to Bonanza. You can read more about what won't import in the Shopify limitations section below.
What doesn't the item importer import? What are the current limitations?
- Products with 3 "options". While Shopify allows up to 3 options (or variations) per product, Bonanza only supports 2 per listing. Any products with more than 2 options must be edited prior to importing. The importer will skip any listings with more than 2 options/variations.
- Products with inventory not managed by Shopify. The importer will only copy listings which is tracked and managed by Shopify. If you are using a third-party app or inventory management service, these listings will not be copied to Bonanza during import.
- Listings with no fulfillment service specified. Similar to inventory management, if you are using a third-party fulfillment service and that is not specified on your Shopify product or our system can't otherwise determine if an item can be fulfilled, the listing will be skipped during import.
- Listings with a quantity of 0. Bonanza does not permit out-of-stock items or pre-order items to be listed for sale. Any items with a quantity of less than 1 will be skipped during import.
- Product tags. Shopify allows sellers to set their own product "tags." Since the available options are virtually endless, Bonanza is unable to support Shopify product tags (otherwise, we wouldn't be able to index your items for search and buyers would not be able to locate them when filtering results on our site). When you initiate your import, you will be able to set your product tags to be imported to your Bonanza listings as item traits per the trait options available on Bonanza.
What happens if I import my items multiple times?
By default, subsequent item imports will only pay attention to items that were added to your Shopify store since the last Shopify import.
If you're making changes to your listings on Shopify after you've already imported them to Bonanza and want those changes to show on your Bonanza listings, then you'll want to indicate that the importer should override existing items.
Visit your "Selling > Import from Shopify" page and check the box to "Revise previously imported items" prior to initiating a new import to ensure that changes made on Shopify copy to items which have already been imported to your Bonanza booth. Note the following:
- This option may add significant time to your import
- Any edits you made to your previously imported listings on Bonanza will be lost; use this option with caution!
Can I select the items I want to import from Shopify?
The Shopify importer will import all your eligible items, but it is pretty easy to remove items en masse from your Bonanza booth after they've been imported.
Does the item importer bring my pictures to Bonanza?
Yes, the importer will import up to 15 pictures that it can find associated with your listing.
How long will it take for my items to import?
Once your job is "In Progress," the time it will take to finish importing depends on the number of items in your Shopify store. It can range from a couple minutes if you have 10-20 items, to several hours if you have thousands or there are other imports ahead of you in the queue. You do not need to stay logged into your account during the import; your items will import whether you're logged into Bonanza or not.
Does it cost anything for me to import my Shopify items?
Nope, nada. You will only be charged final value fees on Bonanza, and only then if you sell your items here.
Is there a maximum number of listings that can be imported?
The maximum number of listings allowed in a booth is 75,000. Titan and Titan Ad Pro members can list up to 100,000 items. Please note that if you have a large quantity of items (more than 50,000), it may take several hours for your import to complete.
My items have completed importing, and a bunch of them need to be edited. Any tips?
Due to different categorization systems across various ecommerce sites, some items imported to Bonanza do not correctly re-map categories to match our category options. Main site category is required in order to publish a listing in your Bonanza booth. Sellers must manually set the category for items imported from Shopify.
No worries! You can use our batch editor (Selling > Batch edit items) to change the price, category, shipping, description or any number of other fields en masse. Once your import is complete, point your mouse over the "Selling" link in the upper left-hand corner of any page, then select "Add or edit items" from the drop down. At the top of the "Add or edit items" page is a message indicating that there are listings which are incomplete. Incomplete listings are missing information required to publish the item for sale in your booth. Click the "Edit all your item categories here" link to visit the batch editor, where you can update your listings in bulk.

Can I import items from more than one Shopify account?
Yes. Once you have connected an account, click the button to "Connect another Shopify account" and log into your other account to accept the terms and connect for import. You will be able to select the account you wish to import from prior to initiating each import.
Can I automatically sync my Shopify listings with my Bonanza account?
Currently, sellers must manually initiate Shopify imports from their "Selling > Import from Shopify" page. Automatic synchronization is not yet set up, but may be a feature that is added to the Shopify importer in the future.
